Well, I'm enjoying the unpredictable nature of this holiday - I was sitting in the hostel minding my own business when a girl asked if I'd like to work as a waitress that night - the previous waitress had suddenly left and they were desperate. Wearing my one pair of travelling clothes I rolled on up and had a fabulous evening working in a very busy cafe - there was one chef and 2 kitchen hands. The manager and I were on the floor. It was fascinating watching the chef at work - 5 gas elements on full blast at once, I'm surprised she didn't catch her teatowel alight. Managed to open all the wine bottles successfully; fortunately was not asked to elaborate on any of the menu items ("dauphinoise potatoes" I couldn't even pronounce let alone describe). I was fed delicious seafood chowder and walked home with 50 euro in my pocket!
My fears of a noisy campsite were not realised and I had a great night sleep. Today is misty and raining on and off so I am chilling out here for another day. Had a lovely walk this morning through the Burren - it's a photographers dream, interesting rock shapes with flowers growing between the stark greyness of the rock, mist on the sea cliffs... I can see how people can get all poetic in Ireland!
